Crayner Sets School Record With Eight GoalsPosted Thursday, February 12, 2009 by Bill Baker WINTER GARDEN, FL - Junior attackman Dan Crayner set a West Orange High School boys' lacrosse single-game record Wednesday evening with eight goals in the season-opening win vs. University High School. Crayner scored off of 14 shots, to post an impressive shooting percentage of .571.
The top returning goal scorer from last season got out of the gate early, contributing four goals and one assist in the first quarter. Crayner's record-setting goal came in the fourth quarter with five seconds remaining in the game in a man-up situation. Crayner's previous game-high goal tally was six last season in a victory over Colonial High School. The previous record of seven goals in a game was shared by all-time WOHS goals and points leader Reed Reynolds (2006) and last season's goals and points leader Chip Mitchel (2007). Reynolds will be begining his junior season with NCAA's Utica College, while Mitchel will start his collegiate career this month with junior college powerhouse Essex.
